Bridal Shower Ideas on a Budget

Sharing is caring!

Bridal showers can be lots of fun, but the expense can really add up and sometimes it can be challenging to find activities and ideas to spruce things up when you’re on a budget.

Here are some fun ideas.

Inspirational Thoughts

Visit your local craft store, like Michael’s or Joanne’s, and find their dollar bins. Target and Walmart have great bins as well! Find a fun journal that can be used for capturing words of wisdom, scriptures and inspiration for the couple. Have everyone at the shower share their advice and tips in this journal. You might even find one that has the couples last name initial on the front. And to think, it was only a buck!

Recipe Ring

Check the dollar bins for some recipe cards. Punch a hole in the corner and use a ring to make a little recipe flip book. Pass the recipe cards around at the shower and have guests share recipes for the bride and groom. What newly married couple would not love a stash of new ideas for dinner?

Fruit Kabobs

Find inexpensive ways to spruce up your food presentations. Instead of a fruit bowl, purchase some skewers and make these fun and easy fruit kabobs. You can get a package of 100 skewers for less than two dollars.

The Love Story

And here is a fun game to play at the shower if you have a video camera or access to a video camera. It is called the Love Story– I found the idea here. A few weeks before the bridal shower meet up with the groom and record him answering the list of questions- tweak the list of questions if you want. Burn it to a CD if you can.

Then print out copies of the questions for each guest at the shower. (You can use this site to find some free and beautiful fonts to use when you print your questions.) Have the guests try to answer the sheet of questions before watching the video.

Play the video and see who gets the most right. Everyone will love watching the bride blush as the groom answers the questions on DVD!

And it is a great keepsake for the bride and groom to watch on their anniversary in the years to come. (Give them the CD to keep as well.)

More ideas to come….

I played the funnest game at my mixed bridal shower a few weeks ago. All the guys sat down in a row, and I had to guess who was who while BLINDFOLDED, and I could only touch them from the knee down.

It's CRAZY hard, but I got $5 for every right answer haha

Here's a link to see pics of the game http://gringationcancun.wordpress.com/2010/07/27/mixed-bridal-shower/

The DVD question game sounds fun!
