Summer Activities for Kids: Healthy Popsicles

Sharing is caring!

Now that school is out (or almost out) and kids are spending more time at home, grocery bills will probably increase during the summer months.  Summer is the perfect time to not only get creative with snacks but to have the kids help with the cooking.

One of my favorite summer activities as a kid was making apple juice popsicles.  They were so simple to make and I keep checking the freezer to see if they were done.  This is one that I plan on passing down to my children because its cheap, easy and healthy.  Plus, popsicles taste so much better when they are homemade!

So add this to your list of summer activities for kids and preschoolers as you’re looking for inexpensive and fun things to do as a family.

Summer Activities for Kids

We made apple peach popsicles and they were delicious!

The kids loved them and so did I!

To make your own you will you need:

  • Popsicle maker (I purchased ours at HEB for $1.50!)
  • Apple juice
  • Frozen Peaches

Pour your apple juice into the popsicle container, about 3/4 full.

This is a perfect activity that kids can do with minimal supervision.

I have toddlers so I poured the apple juice, but I had them help me with the next step.

Next, add a frozen peach slice to each container.

They have to be pushed to the side for the popsicle sticks to fit.

Put them in the freezer and wait at least 5 hours for them to fully harden.

Waiting of course is the hardest part of this activity.

I would suggest trying another one of our summer activities for preschoolers and kids  from the list during the waiting period.

My only suggestions is to eat these popsicles outside, they drip like crazy.

You can use any kind of frozen fruit for your popsicles.

We are going to try some with strawberries next!

The fun part about making your own popsicles is that you can get creative with them and they are healthier than anything store-bought.

What is your favorite popsicle recipe?
