Being Thrifty: New to Us

by Crystal · 3 comments

in being thrifty

My in-laws have had this deep freezer at their house for a handful of years that they do not use.

We have a side-by-side fridge and while it is beautiful, as you know if you have a traditional side-by-side, the storage space in the freezer is minimal.

While we were in San Anonio this weekend, Lenny’s parents offered us their deep freezer.

And we eagerly said yes and toted it back to Dallas.

You have no idea how excited I am to buy meat and veggies in bulk now.

I am not too proud to kindly accept hand me downs.

As a matter of fact, I am grateful.

There are many things in our home that are new to us- but not new. And I am 100% just fine with that.

What about you?

Our home is full of second hand things, most purchased for a small fraction of the cost of new at yard sales. The strangest thing is it seems to be the things we got second hand that last forever while the things we bought new are the things to fall apart first.

In general, I would much rather obtain items used than new. Not only does it save us money, but I hate the whole idea of continually producing new items when we’re tossing usable stuff into a landfill. We actually were given a new to us freezer recently too, but we’ve got some grounding issues and haven’t been able to use it yet.

Yep I love not having to spend a lot of money or no money at all on anything.
