A Spontaneous Road Trip

Sharing is caring!

Last Saturday we decided, on a whim, to make a trip to San Antonio.  No expectations. Just some good ol’ time together. We rented a car. Everyone worked as a team to pack. And off we went to Grandma and Grandpa’s. If you are considering to have a trip with the whole family, you might want to check the cheap offers from camper trailers Sydney and get a new car.

Campervans allow you to discover places that you never knew existed. For example, camping above the clouds in Big Sur, exploring the chasm of doom at Joshua Tree’s National Park, or soaking up incredible views and warm waters at the Travertine Hot Springs. Just a few of our favorite road-trip experiences to date. Unlike cars, campervans can really hold their value and many people will make their money back or even make a profit when they come to sell them. This especially applies to vintage campervans, but even well-maintained campervans can retain their value, particularly if you make some modifications.

We were San Antonio bound.   (I love pictures through the windshield, don’t you?)

Up hill both ways.

Have I mentioned how much I love McAlister’s sweet tea?

I have my own parking spot at the one here in town.

Found one in San Antonio.

For real!

Matthew helped Grandma crochet.

He loved the high tech crochet hook that has a light on it. Who knew?

(And just in case you’re wondering, those hairy arms behind Matthew do NOT belong to Grandma.)

Grandma is a crocheting machine. She made this blanket, hat and booties set in no time flat.

I like pink.

And little roses.

We Matthew broke Grandpa’s favorite cereal bowl, amongst other things.

Thank goodness Grandpa, and Grandma, have a forgiving heart.

Anthony wanted to glue the bowl back together.

Grandpa might or might not be ecstatic that our visit is over.

We ate Tres Leches cake.

For breakfast.

For lunch.

And then for dinner.

Kidding.

Kind of.

Matthew mostly ate the toppings.

I did learn something new.

My favorite, new, custardy yellow, fancy-schmancy, flats that I bought at Target about 6 weeks ago, officially do not go with everything I own as I once believed.

I forgot to pack shoes for myself and the only shoes with me were the ones on my feet.

The yellow ones.

Not so hot with yoga pants.

Or sweatpants.

Just sayin’.

Lesson learned.

And I need a pedicure.

I love spontaneous. And my yellow shoes.

I’m glad they broke it…now Grandpa can eat in moderation vs a huge bowl of food. And he wants to loose weight? With that bowl, I don’t think so. Thank you Matthew you have saved Grandpa’s life. Maybe now he will lose some pounds with your help. lol. I enjoyed the visit…just remember this…Material things don’t matter….we can’t take it with us. Besides everyone says we have too much junk….all those nick knacks. God bless you guys….this trip should be done at least monthly. love you all. GM

Lol. I took a picture of myself in the side mirror too. Dorks!

LOVE your yellow shoes, but do agree that they don’t go with yoga or sweat pants.

Sounds like you all had a good time. 🙂

Would you wonderful grandmother be able to tell me what pattern she used for the beautiful crochet blanket and possible hat too? Thank you, Kathleen (a Grandmother in CA)

    1. Let me ask her and I will let you know. (She is my mother-in-law, my kids’ grandmother.)

  4. Grandma here says:

Kathleen, Thank you for admiring my blanket and hat set. I hardly ever use a pattern, this is the case with this one. No pattern I just make them! If you like just email me and I’ll write down what I did for this one.
If you don’t crochet I also sell them. just let me know. You have a blessed day.
