Anthony’s Achievement

Sharing is caring!

Anthony’s had an amazing year in third grade. He is growing, evolving and learning so much.
As I’ve shared with you before, Anthony is dyslexic. He was diagnosed almost two years ago after many struggles and hurdles.
This school year has been very different from the last few. We’ve put many tools and modifications in place that are in sync with Anthony’s needs and  learning style. It does not hurt that he has a phenomenal teacher. (We already knew she was awesome because Garrett had her in third grade.)
Anthony has maintained A’s and B’s this year, excellent citizenship, he’s acing spelling tests and he is reading on a level similar to his peers. This is huge!
This six weeks, he received the Top Dog award by his teacher. We are so proud of him and so grateful for his teacher who has a love for finding the teaching techniques that works best for him.

During the month of February I am going to share with you some of the tools we are using with Anthony this school year and I will also share with you some of our personal experiences and struggles with dyslexia.

  1. I have a son and daughter that is dyslexic, and now my grandson, who is in the 2nd grade is being watched. He has a great teacher also and a momma who knows what to look for.
I'm looking forward to your future posts about this subject.

  2. Tina- thanks for sharing. As you likely know, it does seem to be hereditary- good to be on top of it as you obviously are!

I've got some great resources and accommodations I am eager to share with you guys next month specific to the needs and learning styles of children dealing with dyslexia.

I look forward to hearing what you have to say on this topic.

  4. Our 9 yr old granddaughter is dyslexic also. My husband was not diagnosed until he was in his 40s. He tried so hard and was treated badly for being an underachiever! We are both encouraged to know that things will be different for our granddaughter. Thanks for sharing!
